Aesop Rock | Get Out of the Car | Official Music Video
Aesop offered this statement on "Get Out of the Car":
“This May 25th marks 9 years since the death of my friend Camu Tao, an event that serves as an emotional and narrative anchor in both this song and my life. I wanted to reflect on things that had changed since, and try to connect some events I hadn't realized were potentially related.
"I asked my long-time friend and collaborator Coro to create some drawings that would accent parts of the lyrics, and director Rob Shaw was able to guide and weave the video into what it is here.
"Camu was entirely singular as an artist and human. You may notice those who knew him speak of him often still - his presence and humor and imagination and energy and impact. It's all still right there. I hope some of you that may not be familiar go check out his music. This man was something special.
"Unrelated factoid: This song was originally called "The Impossible Kid," titled after the line in the song that employs the phrase. I ended up liking the name and moving it up the ladder. I then settled on "Get Out of the Car" borrowed from the last line - which, while a somewhat clunky title, felt like it got to the point nicely."

Rhythm Roulette | A$AP P On The Boards
"Hopefully I don't get no bullshit," says A$AP P on the Boards just before tying on the red bandana for the latest edition of Rhythm Roulette. One of the go-to beatsmiths for the A$AP Mob, P on the Boards was the man behind such Mob bangers as "Bath Salt" featuring Flatbush Zombies. His most recent work can be heard on the P on the DRGS project.
After roaming blindly through the bins at Academy Records, P came up with Red Crayola's abstract art rock album Malefactor Ade. The Aussie prog rock of Paternoster and QPSM Project featuring David Durah. Not the usual suspects to say the least.
After a dab of inspiration, P got down to work. He had high hopes for Red Crayola's "Baby Jesus Frog" based on the title, but revised his opinion post needle drop. He soon found a few suitable loops—ill interstellar outer-space shit, mostly—and got to chopping. Will he achieve his stated goal of cooking up six beats in one session? Only time will tell.
"Shouts out to MASS APPEAL for letting me get the opportunity finally," said P in closing, offering a few words of inspiration to up and coming producers: "It went from me watching this shit, to y'all watching this shit now. So keep doin' it!" Check the creative juices flowing up top...

Brother Ali | Never Learn | Official Music Video
From Brother Ali's full length album, "All The Beauty In This Whole Life" out May 5th on Rhymesayers Entertainment: http://rse.lnk.to/AllTheBeauty
"This is another presentation made possible by community. We shot it in New Mexico at Dar Al Islam, a beautiful worship and healing center built mostly by American Muslims in the Adobe style prevalent in the Southwest. Spiritual and wisdom tradition holds that buildings should be designed in harmony with the natural beauty of the location, as well as the culture of the people in that area. Many of my elders built this place, and many of my friends grew up there.
One thing interesting about this location is that after the death of Tupac Shakur, the Dar Al Islam community opened its doors to film his “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto" video there.
The dancers are Al Taw’am from Minneapolis. You may recognize them from the "Mourning In America” video, as well as their own international videos and news pieces. The twins are dear family friends and leaders in our cultural and spiritual community. Their movement speaks of their family legacy of dignified regality. I believe them to be royalty. They choreographed this incredible piece and brought the entire song and video to life.
The video was directed by Kron, whom we've worked with in the past. He and his crew did an incredible job and I'm deeply grateful.
Of course, Ant made the track with G Koop playing the instruments and deM atlaS added some additional operatic vocals at the end of the song. Special thanks to: Siddiq, Sidi Hakeem Archuletta, La'kisha Raeesah Holloman, Amir Sulaiman, and anyone else I'm forgetting.
Please enjoy."

LYRICS:
I don’t know where to turn
I hit my head I guess I’ll never learn
But they tell me I should let it bleed let it sting let it burn
Get my head firm
My goodness good morning
You’re still an apprentice
Every generation of MC f**k with me so ill by consensus
You see what I speak you touch it and feel it all six of your senses
My mission is endless I’ve been in this ten and I’m still as relentless
Now build you a fence if you’re feeling defensive
My power comes from the Most High
Lord God of the globe sky
Soul vibration is so fly I can walk on water no lie
Champion author small fry rock of Gibraltar north side
Serving this culture might I confide that I’m here to assault you
I got some money in the bank that I did not have when I start
Got a little money up in my hand I do not have money in my heart
I’m standing on champion greatness
I can not claim it cause that’s the creator I stand up and state it
That’s not bragging it’s praying that’s what I’m saying
I don’t know where to turn
I hit my head I guess I’ll never learn
But they tell me I should let it bleed let it sting let it burn
Get my head firm
Ya Hafidh Ya Wadud
I was standing on stage when my hero died
feel the heartbeat of my people’s cries
Nation nineteen thirty three bowties
light of the deen gleaming in your eyes
Even when the tears flow down both side you know why you sacrificed your whole life
You can go ahead let your soul fly cause the whole tribe blood line flow through mine
Listen we love to fight cause we fight for love
the poor righteous sons where the diamonds from
Libraries are transcribing us
and our ancestors are more alive than us
put down everything you’re trying to clutch
an undying lust to see the climate just
baby we ride ‘til our time is up
that’s just The Divine in us
I don’t know where to turn
I hit my head I guess I’ll never learn
But they tell me I should let it bleed let it sting let it burn
Get my head firm

Rhythm Roulette | Beat Butcha
It’s always entertaining to watch marquee production talent whip up impromptu instrumentals in episodes of "Rhythm Roulette," but an underrated aspect of our series is how much of a challenge it can pose. You never know what you’re going to pull out of the crates when you're blindfolded at the record store—and the results aren’t always optimal.
Herein lies the beauty of "Rhythm Roulette,' and Beat Butcha’s efforts in our latest episode. After blindly sifting through tons of records, Butcha emerged with “Midnight Energy” by Mantus—which “looks like it’s going to be some sort of disco shit”—Raphael Saadiq’s “Instant Vintage”—a gospel record that Butcha admitted would be a tough sample, despite its likely ‘dopeness’—and The Dells’ “There Is,” the record most likely to contain ‘the heat,’ according to the producer himself.
Producing records for grimy street poets like Prodigy, Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss and Sean Price during his career, Beat Butcha may not have deep experience dabbling in disco and gospel. But you wouldn’t know it by the way he whipped this track up. Enjoy the latest “Rhythm Roulette” above.
