Jumping D.C., Surviving Green Hell - /LAUNCH CONTROL: S02E07
/DRIVE is proud to partner with Subaru's LAUNCH CONTROL. Catch up on Season 2, as we lead up to the premiere of Season 3 on May 20!
Season 2 kicks off with a frigid bang as Team Subaru attacks the event known as Sn* Drift 2014.
"You only truly know how to accomplish something once you have actually done it. Turning points and opportunities are only fully recognized with hindsight.
So, for a team as experienced as Subaru Rally Team USA, reverse engineering a championship title should be straight forward. Except it never is.
Thousands of circumstances and decisions led to this moment, and no two seasons will offer the same opportunities. Experience might form the road map to a title, but it's a road map already out of date. The 2014 championships bring new competition, new events, and new cars. A new road awaits.
This is Season Two of Launch Control." - Subaru's Launch Control Page

Mad Max: Fury Road | Official Retaliate Trailer
From director George Miller, originator of the post-apocalyptic genre and mastermind behind the legendary “Mad Max” franchise, comes “Mad Max: Fury Road,” a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky.
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) stars in the title role in “Mad Max: Fury Road”—the fourth in the franchise’s history. Oscar winner Charlize Theron (“Monster,” “Prometheus”) stars as the Imperator, Furiosa. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) as Nux; Hugh Keays-Byrne (“Mad Max,” “Sleeping Beauty”) as Immortan Joe; and Nathan Jones (“Conan the Barbarian”) as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zoë Kravitz (“Divergent”) plays Toast, Riley Keough (“Magic Mike”) is Capable, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”) is Splendid, and supermodel Abbey Lee is The Dag, and Courtney Eaton is Fragile. Also featured in the movie are Josh Helman as Slit, Jennifer Hagan as Miss Giddy, and singer/songwriter/performer iOTA as Coma-Doof Warrior.
The cast is rounded out by well-known Australian actors John Howard and Richard Carter, supermodel Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.
Oscar-winning filmmaker George Miller (“Happy Feet”) is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller is also producing the film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar nominee Doug Mitchell (“Babe”, “Happy Feet”), and P.J. Voeten. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.
The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-winning director of photography John Seale (“The English Patient”), production designer Colin Gibson (“Babe”), editor Margaret Sixel (“Happy Feet”), Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan (“A Room with a View”), action unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris (“Australia”), and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt (“Knowing”).
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production, a George Miller film, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The film is scheduled for release on May 15, 2015, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

DKNY Taps Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne as New Creative Directors
by Alessandra Codinah/Vogue
Donna Karan’s youth-focused label DKNY has always been about translating the vim and vigor of New York City’s energy to the global market, and who better than two of the city’s freshest and most beloved young urban-minded designers to take the reins? The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (and CFDA menswear award)–winning Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have been tapped as the label’s new creative directors, effective immediately, with an additional position of chief image offficer created for the incoming Hector Muelas, previously from Apple, who will be handling all brand image, marketing and creative services for Donna Karan International, as well as all digital platforms and e-commerce.
“Our new creative team has a solid platform to re-energize and redefine what authentic New York means for DKNY right now, given today’s world of fast living, extreme innovation and global competition at the highest level,” wrote Caroline Brown, Donna Karan International CEO, in a statement, and Muelas, who is credited with most recently leading the global brand marketing initiatives for the Apple Watch, has big changes in mind for the brand—what Brown describes as “a 360 experience across all consumer touch points, brand messaging, digital universe, architecture, marketing, and more.”
But for Osborne and Chow, who will split time between Public School and DKNY, it’s back to their roots: New York. “We both grew up in New York, and DKNY has always been part of the landscape of this city,” they wrote in a statement. “It is one of the brands that helped change the game for us and for American fashion. It evokes everything our city was always about—energy, disruption, new thinking, and transcending all boundaries. We are extremely proud and excited to be joining the company and to contribute to the next chapter of DKNY, one of the most iconic American brands created by Donna Karan, a true inspiration.”
“I started DKNY with the goal of creating a brand that captured the very best of New York and could bring that great energy to the world. It’s been an incredible journey,” wrote Donna Karan. “Now is the right moment for its evolution and I am so excited for the next chapter of this company working together with this new creative team.”

Earl Sweatshirt | Solace | EP
Earl Sweatshirt releases “Solace” – a ten-minute long track/project/release dedicated to his mom. If you cast your mind back, or listen to the content of Earl’s lyrics, the strain between Earl and his Mother was caused by the “time he spent on that island” – the correctional facility in Samoa he was sent to as Odd Future simultaneously blew up. When that happened, “Free Earl” became a phenomenon, printed on t-shirts, hollered at rap shows, blasted on Twitter - and most fans blamed Earl’s mum for his departure.
“After Samoa and the shit that happened with my mom, after all that ‘Free Earl’ shit, I was super self-conscious about how I engaged my mom with the public,” Earl told Grantland. “I would be in a position to give an honest and nonbiased critique on my mom if there hadn’t been this immediate fucking negative image and stigma attached to her out the gate… That was the most fucked ever. People was all in her emails, people were calling her and shit”.
On “Solace”, Earl Sweatshirt gets to lay his mindset down. The name of the track is telling: it’s an exorcism. A moment to set his feelings free, get them out into the world, and find comfort and peace as a result. Listen below:

Pete Rock | Cosmic Slop | Official Video
Pete Rock was raised in Mount Vernon, but his face belongs on Mount Rushmore. The Chocolate Boy Wonder perfected an art form, inspired millions, and soundtracked a generation. By contrast, Teddy Roosevelt seems like a chump.
This is the man who Dilla told, “I wanted to be like you.” Kanye once called himself the “new Pete Rock.” But the original Pete Rock remains permanently vital. The evidence bangs in his latest opus, Petestrumentals 2, the sequel to the 2001 classic that helped define the hip-hop instrumental record. It marks the legend’s first album on Mello Music Group, a fitting union between the author of the boom-bap blueprint and the label that’s expanded upon his legacy.
Describing Pete Rock’s productions do them little justice. They resonate in your gut, heart, and brain. The title of one of these beats says it all: “Makes Me Feel Like.” You fill in the blanks based on your personal experience and current mood.
Petestrumentals 2 conjures memories of BBQ cookouts and 70s Blaxploitation scores, rattling summer jeep cruises and blunted Jamaican vacations. There’s a gorgeous requiem to Dilla (“Dilla Bounce (R.I.P),” where the originator pays tribute to the prodigy. You see the full range of Rock’s gifts on display: the meticulously chopped horns, unquantized drums, and air raid sirens. It contains the emotion of a thousand eulogies.
No record can’t be resurrected. There’s no sub-genre or era that can’t be converted into Rock’s singular brand of soul. His music is the closest thing we’ll ever get to a time-traveling DeLorean, effortlessly shifting between past, present, and future.
For the last 20 years, hip-hop heads have argued over the best Pete Rock original productions and remixes. Is it “They Reminisce Over You” or the “Shut ‘Em Down Remix?” Do you prefer Soul Survivor or the first Petestrumentals, his work with INI or the UN? His catalogue can’t be compressed into a bio; you need a book.
This is the latest chapter—an even 20 slaps and rhythmic levitations. It’s Pete Rock at his best, accelerating and kicking cosmic slop, extending wishes, hope, love, gritty drums and eternal wonder.

5 BEST AIR JORDANS RELEASING IN MAY
by:BY KYLE ROONEY/SneakerMob
May's quickly approaching which means the warmer weather is on the horizon, and that means all of those kicks you've kept tucked away during the winter are slowly working their way into your rotation.
While you've probably got a few kicks ready to be un-deadstocked in the coming months, there's still a number of releases that you want to be on the lookout for. In May alone, there are more than a handful of Air Jordans set to hit retailers- some returning classics, and some new-look colorways.
We've narrowed it down to our five best Js to look out for next month.
AIR JORDAN 5 'MIDNIGHT NAVY'
By now we are all aware of Jordan Brand's enormous plans for 2015, as they celebrate 30 years of Js. A number of classics, including the 'White/Metallic Silver' Air Jordan 5 are scheduled to return to retail after a long hiatus, as well as some new look colorway such as the 'White/Poison Green' joint.
Adding to the list of new-look Jordans which will be releasing this year is the 'Midnight Navy' Air Jordan 5 which is officially scheduled to release this Saturday, May 2nd. Built on a leather upper, a dark navy covers the entire silhouette, with Carolina blue accents handling the Jumpman and 'shark teeth.'
If you're hoping to snag a pair this weekend, the good news is nearly every Foot Locker in North America will have the kicks in stock.
Tickets will be given out for the shoe you have selected on Monday, April 27th and Tuesday, April 28th. Limit one ticket per customer. You must have a valid photo ID to receive a ticket. If your ticket number is drawn you will be notified by phone on Wednesday, April 29th or Thursday, April 30th. If your ticket number is drawn you must be at the store on Saturday, May 2nd between store opening time and 6:00 p.m. local time to purchase the shoe. You must have the ticket and show a valid photo ID that matches the name on the list in order to purchase the shoe. Any shoe not purchased by the 6:00 p.m. deadline will be forfeited.
AIR JORDAN 1 'PINNACLE'
The 'Pinnacle' Air Jordan 1 utilizes premium materials throughout the upper, highlighted by 24k gold accents on the branding and eyelets with a premium, quilted insole. Unfortunately, if you're interested in the premium 1s, the rumored retail price is $400.
Furthermore, the kicks will be releasing exclusively at Footaction's Flight 23 locations in New York and Las Vegas on May 2nd- the night of the Mayweather Pacquiao fight.
AKA- this is one pair you'll have to just admire from afar.
AIR JORDAN 7 'HARE'
As Jordan Brand continues to celebrate it's 30th anniversary this year, the Jumpman, along with Warner Bros., has officially announced plans to bring back the Hare Jordan campaign- including the classic 'Hare' Jordan 7.
Jordan and Bugs Bunny originally teamed up for this campaign back in 1992 following MJ's first NBA championship, and we can look forward to the return this Spring.
“Each is an iconic figure and legend in his own right, but together Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan are an unbeatable combination on and off the court,” said Brad Globe, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “We are excited to partner with Jordan Brand to reintroduce Hare Jordan to an entirely new generation of fans with this limited-edition collection that includes a mix of classic and cutting-edge styles.”
Joining the Air Jordan 1 'Hare', which will release in April, will be the 'Hare' Jordan 7, which looks to be returning in OG form. 'Nike Air' branding adorns the insole, and the kicks will come complete with a new retro card featuring Bugs Bunny on the front.
If you need these all-time classics in your rotation you can circle May 16th on your calendar.
AIR JORDAN 11 LOW 'BRED'
The Air Jordan 11 low was a favorite in 2014, with releases like the classic 'Concord' and new-look 'Infrared 23.' Recently, we learned that the 'Georgetown' Air Jordan 11 low is on the horizon for 2015, as is this 'Bred' rendition.
The kicks are very similar to their high-top counterpart, though Jordan Brand opted for a red inner lining instead of the traditional black. For now, rumors suggest that the 'Bred' 11 Lows will be releasing on May 23rd for $170 so there's plenty of time to debate whether you'll be picking up a pair this year.
What's the word on the 'Bred' 11 Lows; Cop or Not?
AIR JORDAN 1 HIGH OG 'CHICAGO'
The classic 'Chicago' Air Jordan 1 High OG which will officially be releasing on May 30th, for $160
The timeless sneakers are built on a combination of white and varsity red leather with black handling the branding and laces. A similarly styled 'KO' version of the 'Chicago' 1s arrived at retailers last year, but those fail in comparison to the real thing.
It wasn't that long ago (2013) that the 'Chicago' 1s released, but we don't think that'll deter anyone from copping these next month.

Clear Soul Forces | Kaboom | Music Video
Detroit’s Ilajide, E-Fav, Noveliss & L.A.Z. (aka Clear Soul Forces) armed with an arsenal of thunderous beats from rising producer NAMELESS combine to form the Fab Five. The group’s vision – combining Golden Era rhymes with a contemporary style – is as clear as ever here, heightened by their collective synergy with Nameless, who handles the majority of the production on the LP, reprising his role as producer to Clear Soul Forces from “Unlimited Bounce”, a highlight off of their last full-length, Gold PP7s.
Fab Five ushers in a new era for Detroit’s storied musical tradition – the city that produced Motown, Jay Dee and Eminem has seen a revival of late, with the likes of Black Milk, Danny Brown and Royce Da 5’9” weaving the city’s rich history into their work in increasingly inventive ways. Clear Soul Forces & NAMELESS continue the tradition nodding to the Motor City’s artistic legacy while carving their own path.
With production by NAMELESS and raps by the four Detroit emcees, the Fab Five are here to save Hip Hop the only way possible, with quality rhymes over quality beats.
