Fatel Flows - ILL-Villain EP (Beetle Studios)

Born in Chicago and raised in the citys notorious Little Village neighborhood, Fatel Flows body of work reflects his intimate knowledge of street life and gives a glimpse to outsiders of how life on the mean streets of Chicago can either make or break a man. Surrounded by death and poverty Fatel Flows spent his formative years learning the hustle of the streets from some of the best teachers Little Village ever produced. As he got older and began to experience a life outside the neighborhood. Fatel realized that there was a world out there that had no idea what the everyday life of a "street soldier is like. The iconic images of Scarface and Pablo Escobar were not realistic depictions of what the people that worked the product were going through. From selling drugs to cd's, socks to cars, Fatel Flows has made a buck anyway possible. The necessity to pay the bills has never let him forget that hustling is an art form and only a true artist can master it. The film industries images of unimaginable wealth and criminal excess were not his reality and not for lack of trying but because the odds of making it to Kingpin status were as high as making it to the NBA. Disillusioned with a life of hustling he decided to hang up his hat and give people that were not familiar with or intrigued by the fantasy of the gangster lifestyle a dose of realuty. So he put pen to paper and began painting a picture of the hustlers life. His rhymes serve as a testimonial to the fact that being a gangster isn't east and it definitely is not for the weak willed!

DJ Grand Master Flash x The Mid x BRICKHEADZ x Free Soul Battle
This weekend Grand Master Flash came to the MID in Chicago. I didn't get to go because I was busy doing my own DJ sets. Big up to this cat Fatel Flows. I first came upon him at a spot I was spinning in Schaumburg believe it or not. A few years back at La Margaritas on Fridays when I was DJin' for Hector of Confusion Entertainment, he ended up performing there. Definitely caught my ear and attention. So ever since then I've been a fan of the rawness...Another moment was when I was doing the online store for The Bassment 1415 N. Very so often you come upon someone with talent. On a day to day basis I check my email and there are numerous emails from artists from all over the world. Unfortunately I don't have time to go through them all, but I try my best. Music of course is something I truly love, so if there is something good out there I want to hear it and not miss the opportunity. For intense, I know this artist who is truly dedicated to what she does. She has reached out to me and I gave her my input on this music industry and so forth. The way I see the scene in Chicago is like Life, its what you make of it. Every time I think of anything, the first thing that comes to mind, is "Quality Over Quantity"

The Do-Over NZ Edition w/ Z-Trip Limited Edition Rane Sixty-Two Z Mixer
Last month legendary LA party The Do-Over brought their sunshine infused fun all the way to New Zealand, the home of Serato.
The Do-Over founders Haycock & Strong were joined by special guests (who were kept a mystery until the party), J Rocc of The Beat Junkies and DJ Day.
The Do-Over NZ was one of the first parties in the world to use the then unreleased Z-Trip Limited Edition Rane Sixty-Two Z mixer, and was held on the beautiful Waiheke Island. All of the ingredients for a unforgettable day.

The answer is simple, I agree with Common and his standpoints on "Sweetness" a plague that has infected the Hip Hop community in ALL elements (Emceeing, Bboying, Graffiti Art and Djing)...so it's not just Drake
I don't hate Drake he just happens to be on top using the word "Hip-Hop" to captivate a following and presenting this culture in a tasteless way. I don't know about you guys and when I say you guys I mean the Hip Hop headz that have struggled for years to keep the true essence of this art form alive..but I find it disrespectful and demeaning when someone comes onto the scene and takes shortcuts to get a "name" without paying dues and most importantly not grasping what this culture means.
To the average person..I'll put it to you likes this
Let's say you've worked at your job for 10 years, you've worked hard to get where you're at, you've become an expert at what you do..now a new hire comes in and they start that person at the same wage as you.
I worked in the corporate world for a decade for a reputable telecommunications company and I know it happens there too..and what have all of you done when this has happened?

This is the ONLY video on YouTube that shows this song playing on Vinyl!
This song was originally released on a VOLT 155 7" 45, and is very rare. It was written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter, and went largely undetected until it was made famous in 1993 by the Wu-Tang clan, who sampled it for their song C.R.E.A.M.
i kept losing bids on ebay to people shelling out $200+ for it. maybe one day i'll get lucky and own the 7" some day. but for now , this great double LP compilation of rare/great 7" hits that never got picked up on the radar. Currently, this is the only video on YouTube of this song playing on Vinyl!
Vinyl was washed in a spin clean record washer and treated with gruv glide. recorded from an Audio Technica AT-LP120usb turntable/Audio Technica AT-440mla cartridge, into the phono input of a Harman/Kardon 330c receiver, and finally into the line in jack of my computer.

Brickhead Shon Roka (aka Shaun Ortega) deejays—and says that if Brickheadz “were made up of body parts, Waka would be the head and I would be the heart.” The contest continues at 8 p.m. with the semifinals and finals and a history lesson that includes interviews, archival footage, and Waka—a legend internationally and nationally, according to Shon—and the other two judges in their own showcases."
The Brickheadz crew has been active for about 15 years, Waka says—and “got the ‘legendary’ status about ten years ago.” There are “maybe nine or ten dancers. But we got a big family, about 20 in the crew total, including the MCs, DJs, old-school guys.”
“We got guys from the Ukraine, Mexicans,” says Waka. “And we all dance way different from each other.”
Waka, 35, says that at this point there’ve been three generations of Brickheadz. He’s part of the second, while in the third the oldest is “maybe 21.” And the first generation, the founders? “Between kids and work—those kinda things—the guys don’t break anymore.”
Born Huascar Alcantara in the Dominican Republic, Waka moved to Humboldt Park at 11. Back in the old country, he saw the movie Breakin’, but his grandma told him no way he was doing that. Here, he says, “it’s been 23 years and going.”
Though he started in grammar school, “I didn’t really get into breaking until I went to a party in the early 90s where guys were battling,” he says. That “first encounter” seems to have made a big impression: “It got me—it was too much at the time.”
“A lot of guys are more traditional. I like to create my own moves, I like the dark side—my style, I’m more aggressive.” Asked to describe it, he says, “You have to see it!”
Though breaking focuses him mentally and physically, Waka says, "Don't get me wrong, dancing at 35 gets challenging sometimes. But that’s life! Believe it or not, dancing is the fountain of youth. So let’s drink up.”

"DOSE OF REALITY" show review...
Show was mad dope last night and ran pretty smooth considering we didn't have a host until Water aka Blak Dynomyte took the initiative to be. Aztec Dinero came off with mad energy like he was telling the microphone off until the last track were we got a smile out of him, that told you this shit is HIP HOP. DJ Ceez his DJ got the cuts in and the crowd was ready for more. The next artist on the line up was WATER. So you know how that went, not enough can be said about the presence and control he has on the microphone, well its WATER, shit flows. Drunken Monkeee put on a show for real, that intro well, I'm not gonna give it away, you just gotta go see him. I'll say this, he use ever angel and every object in reach, it was classic and the crowd gave him a good welcome back feel which was well deserved. Devilla aka Shonniece Weaver stepped in and added that female prospective that makes everything feel equal, she is beauty on the mic and she shows up to handle her shit. Blunt Crew ended it off right with a high energy performance that left you with "don't sleep on BLUNT CREW. From there after I had to leave you with a dope set, starting off with ON ILL after that speech, it was time to go in on some BIG DADDY KANE type shit. Mila Kunis the new face of Christian Dior #TwoFavorites
Black Swan star Mila Kunis is spreading her wings, becoming the latest celebrity to join the Christian Dior family.
The actress’ first ads for the Miss Dior handbag — shot in New York by photographer Mikael Jansson — will debut internationally in Asian and European editions of ELLE, Vogue and Madame Figaro on Jan. 15. Appearances in U.S. media outlets will follow later in the month.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Dior,” Kunis said in a statement. “The brand is iconic in so many ways. It defines fashion, elegance and sophistication.”
In signing with the French fashion house, Kunis joins Lady Dior handbags’ current face, Marion Cotillard (who will remain in her role), plus Black Swan costar Natalie Portman, the spokesmodel for Miss Dior Cherie perfume. Charlize Theron also models for Dior beauty and J’adore Dior fragrance, and Jude Law, Sophie Marceau and Sharon Stone have ties to the brand, as well.
