Let's go back to the B96 Jingle Bash for a moment w/ CTFB & SHON ROKA!
What up everyone!? Went to B96 Jingle Bash, yes B96 Jingle Bash. I DJed for Chi-Town Finest Breakers (My other family) again at the All State Arena for Mayor Daley and Chicago Sports Fest! They sure did get it in to kick everything off to get the event started! It was insane how many people were there at the SOLD OUT event, featuring such act as David Guetta, Jump Smokers, Keri Hilson, Sean Kingston, Justin Bieber, Jeremih, Pitbul and many more!

Beatnick & K-Salaam (Gets The Shon Roka Stamp For Ill Producers)
I’ve been following these guys for awhile now. They put some Common remixes out that really caught my attention. Beatnick & K-Salaam have that smooth underground hip hop feel that will truly catch your attention. After that I noticed their name everywhere. Working with such artist as Mos Def, Pharoah Monch,, Dead Prez and many more. I just got to preview their behind the scene footage of the lastest project “Don’t Die” featuring Bun B., 88 Keys , Colin Monroe & Actor (from “The Wire”) Julito McCullum. Its not my first time living in the TN. At the age of 30 I feel more on edge about my choices and decisions. I feel like I'm on some mid-life crisis shit! Then I sit back and think while listening to the music I love. I also think about the things that got me to where I am today. Having two kids and not being in the same area as them hurts. Well, its Wednesday. I'm a little behind on the blog tip. Been busy working on Hellaween flyer and Hoopin'. Got to go to Addison Park the other night. It's been a while since I last broke some ankles. Anyhow got to play Madden 2010 the other day for Playstation 3. Even though I am a Sony person, I would prefer XBOX now! Shon Roka (pronounced Shaun Roca) the DJ also known as Shaun Ortega was born on the west-side of Chicago. He started gaining fame as a bboy in 1991 and later became a member of a well known crew called the BRICKHEADZ. He would perform for such artist and events such as The Roots, KRS One, Immortal Technique, Dougie Fresh, Common, Rhymefest, Cypress Hill, Pharoah Monch, Nas, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Taste of Chicago, Lollapolooza, Looptopia, B96 Summer Bash just to name a few. The BRICKHEADZ also won many breakin' competition nationally and internationally. While Shon Roka was being active as a bboy he was working on his craft of being a DJ.
DJing for w/ Nike, Jordan, Under Armour, Adidas, Vans, Uprise (Chicago) Skateshop for numerous in-stores, sporting events, galleries and corporate outings. Also Shon Roka is a resident DJ post Covid in Chicago at McGee's, Tantrum, Imbibe and Harbee's. While being a DJ, he has been teaching music production and the Art of Skateboarding through Maggie Daley's After School Matters. Also known as Gallery 37.
